Information on Staffing
Currently we have 12 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) qualified teachers including the Headteacher, and the Assistant Head. The teacher: pupil ratio is 1 to 8.1 children.
We have full time equivalent of 35 Classroom / Teaching Assistants.
At lunchtime we have 8 midday supervisory assistants.
We have Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational and Physiotherapy support provision supplied by the local authority. Two dedicated health care school nurses support our pupils, creating and monitoring health care plans where appropriate. The nurses work under the direct guidance of a dedicated school doctor.
The pupils are also supported, by both clinical and educational psychologists, who regularly offer drop-in sessions to parents and carers.
The average adult to child ratio, in any class, is 1 adult to 2.7 children. The ratio may vary slightly from class to class taking into account the age and complexity of needs of the pupils.
Staff have a wide range of specialist knowledge and experience to deliver an appropriate curriculum to pupils with a range of needs including moderate, severe, profound and complex learning difficulties.
We have an ongoing programme of professional development to ensure that staff maintain and develop their professional expertise.
